National Corvette Museum re-opens over a year-and-a-half after giant sinkhole opens

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Skydome at the National Corvette Museum is back open today, over a year and a half after a giant sinkhole swallowed eight Corvettes.

The reopening celebration was held today at the museum in Bowling Green.

The 30-foot deep sinkhole is filled in, the inside of the Skydome cleaned and a new guard rail installed.

All of the cars are back on display in the Skydome, including the restored "one millionth" Corvette, which was unveiled today.

Tourism at the museum has increased by 66 percent.
