LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Baseball is not just a sport for guys.

That's what the International Women's Baseball Center wants people to realize.

It held its second annual "Women's Baseball Symposium" on Saturday at Louisville Slugger Museum.

Special panelists included umpire Perry Barber and Hall of Famer Carol Sheldon.

Organizers say girls and women do play baseball and want to play baseball.

"A lot of people don't realize that just last month the United States Women's Baseball team won a gold medal at the Pan-Am games," said Dr. Kat Williams, President of the International Women's Baseball Center. "

The museum also has a display with bats signed by "A League of Their Own" director Penny Marshall, actress Geena Davis and the all-female "Colorado Silver Bullets" who played professionally from 1994-97.
