LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The USA BMX Derby City Nationals are back in Louisville this weekend.

The free three-day event is being held at Tom Sawyer State Park.

It's drawing in some big names in the racing world, including top pros and Olympians.

More than 1.200 amateur riders range in age from 2 to 82 and represent 34 states.

"The way the races go, there are qualifying rounds ... then if it's a big group, they'll go on the quarters and then to semis," said Gork Barrette with USA BMX. "Then the main event is where the get the big awards and trophies."

Racing gets underway Sunday at 8 a.m. with the main events starting around noon.
