Louisville City falls to New York Red Bulls II on late goal
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – A late goal in the 85th minute pushed New York Red Bulls II ahead of Louisville City FC for good Saturday night.
The win for New York delays Louisville’s hopes of securing a bye in the first round of the playoffs, which the team would have clinched with a single point.
Louisville struck first on a goal from Niall McCabe early in the first half, but New York had an answer for City’s goals and eventually put themselves on top with just five minutes left.
Fondy put away Louisville’s second goal, putting him up to 22 goals on the season – the most in a single season by any USL player. Fondy broke the record of 20 set by Orlando’s Kevin Molino with a hat trick Wednesday night.
Louisville will travel to Charleston to take on the Battery next Saturday.
