LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – Lightning almost struck twice.
The Indiana Hoosiers avoided a second loss to Southern Illinois of the FCS Saturday with a 48-47 win at Memorial Stadium.
The Salukis beat the Hoosiers back in 2006 and it appeared like they would do it again in 2015. They held an 11 point 1st half lead then had a chance to win the game in the fourth quarter.
After Southern Illinois quarterback Mark Iannotti completed his fourth touchdown pass of the day, the Salukis decided to go for two. Iannotti attempted a pass to the end zone that was knocked away by the Hoosier defense.
IU Senior Nate Sudfeld finished the game 19-32 with 349 yards and 1 touchdown.
IU begins the season 1-0. They host FIU next Saturday.
