New legislative push would scrap ISTEP exam

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One year after writing a new test, there's a push to scrap Indiana's ISTEP exam.

A legislative panel is meeting today to talk about a plan to do away with the statewide standardized test. It was re-written after the state did away with Common Core and adopted its own education standards.

Some leaders are now pushing a more generic "off-the-shelf" test, saying it could save the state millions.

More than $400,000 students take the ISTEP each year.
