LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Kentucky gubernatorial candidate Jack Conway shares his plan for education. The Democratic candidate spoke at Louisville's Main Free Public Library downtown Tuesday morning.

Conway says he wants to expand early childhood education and make it available to more kids.

He plans to protect funding for public schools and push for high-speed broadband. Conway also wants to make college more affordable by keeping a close eye on the way universities spend money.

"We'll make sure our universities are spending resources on students, not excessive overhead," Conway said. "We'll require transparency and strict accountability of how universities are spending money to make certain students aren't footing the bill for excessive administrative costs."

Republican candidate Matt Bevin recently said he does not believe the federal Head Start program is effective.

He also says he wants to ensure the government is providing the best education for the most affordable price possible.
