LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A car crashed into the Golden Living Center Hillcreek on Breckenridge Lane Thursday afternoon and the driver has been cited for instructional permit violation.

According to Louisville Metro Police, a woman in her 40s accidentally crashed into the nursing home while turning into the parking lot.

Police say her foot slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal. She hit a stop sign before crashing through some bushes and a telephone pole cable, hitting two cars and finally crashing through the wall of the nursing home, according to a police statement.

The woman’s car ended up in the room of an elderly male resident of the complex, whose wife was visiting at the time. The man was taken to Baptist East Hospital for observation, while police say his wife was uninjured.

Police say the woman who crashed into the building was cited for violating her instructional permit, because she was required to have a licensed driver in the car and did not. Another driver was also taken to the hospital.
