Electric cars show what the future has in store for Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) –- They were once considered cars of the future, but their presence is becoming a bigger reality in Louisville.

Electric and Hybrid-Electric cars were on display in Jeffersontown along with a charging station on Sunday afternoon. Not only were the vehicles there, but so were the experts to answer any questions.

Event organizer James Maddox says the cars lower your carbon footprint and are becoming more affordable. He adds the cost to keep the car running is one-fifth of what the average person would pay for gas.

“And now they're coming out with vehicles that could have extended miles. There was a big myth early on that you could only go so far, but now with the new technology of batteries coming out, pretty soon people will be able to travel further with these electric vehicles,” said Maddox.

Maddox also says a charging station is expected to be installed near the public library in J-town. He says it will be the first free station in Louisville.
