New Albany police to increase patrols at schools

Posted: Updated:

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- The New Albany Police Department announced there will be a stronger police presence at schools in the area Monday.

The announcement comes after an unconfirmed threat was posted Friday on Facebook. Police say an out-of-state hacker threatened to go on a "slaughter" at New Albany pre-schools.

Sunday night, the police department posted on Facebook saying that Chief Todd Bailey has directed officers to provide extra patrols around schools on Monday. Bailey says he's been in contact with schools during the investigation to make sure students and staff are safe.

Federal authorities are now handling the investigation.
