LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Jeffersontown High School's design, build, create and lead academies -- and how they are helping to bridge the gap between high school, college and the world of work -- will be the focus of U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan's visit to Louisville on Thursday.

Following his 10 a.m. visit to the high school, Duncan will also participate in a roundtable discussion on college access and affordability at the University of Louisville.

Duncan's visits to Jeffersontown and UofL are among two of 11 stops in his six-state 2015 Back To School tour.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, the theme of this year’s tour is “Ready for Success,” and during each stop we’ll be celebrating how states and local communities are working to increase access and opportunity from early learning through college.

This year’s back-to-school bus tour runs through Friday, Sept. 18 and includes stops in 10 cities in seven states across the American Midwest -- Kansas City, Missouri; Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Champaign and Williamsfield, Illinois; West Lafayette and Indianapolis, Indiana; Louisville, Kentucky; Cincinnati and Columbus Ohio; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

This will be the third time this year for Duncan to visit a JCPS school. In April, he participated in a round-table discussion with students and teachers at Fern Creek High School. During that same visit, Duncan also met with teachers during an event at duPont Manual High School.
