LACETT | U of L soccer team loses NCAA Tournament rematch

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – The 10th ranked Louisville Cardinals soccer team lost to number 16 St. Louis 3-2 in overtime Wednesday evening at Lynn Stadium.

The game winning goal came in the 97th minute when the ball deflected off a Louisville player, past goalie Nick Jeffs and into the Card’s net for an own goal. The loss snapped a three game unbeaten streak for the Cards.

St. Louis (3-1) exacted revenge on the Cardinals who ended its season in the second round of the NCAA tournament last year. 

Louisville (3-2-1) forced overtime in the 89th minute when Andrew Brody scored the tying goal off a beautiful feed from Danny Reynolds. It was Brody’s second goal of the season.

Jeffs had five saves for Louisville in the loss.
