Jeffersonville mayor outlines updated master plan for city

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore says he plans to update the city's master plan -- something that hasn't been done in eight years.

"Jeffersonville has witnessed unprecedented growth in the last 3-1/2 years," Moore said in a news release. "Now is the time to focus on planning for our future, We've put together a roadmap for Jeffersonville to continue to grow and prosper. Our primary goal is to meet the challenges our city will face over the next decade."

Moore says the update is in response to new developments in Jeffersonville, including the Ohio River Bridges Project, Big Four Pedestrian Bridge and the Big Four Station. Moore says continued rapid growth at the River Ridge Commerce Center and other various projects are having a major impact on Jeffersonville.

"This plan outlines a vision for Jeffersonville and ten primary goals or priorities that our city should focus on over the next 20 years as we continue to develop and grow," Moore said. "It will help us set a course for future generations and decision-makers as a strategic way to provide the best possible quality of life for everyone as new investment continues in the city."

The 2035 plan focuses on six areas of the city:

  • Falls Landing and downtown
  • 10th Streett revitalization
  • 10th Stree/I-265 Commercial area
  • River Ridge Gateway
  • I-265 Gateway
  • Veterans Parkway Extension

"My administration is committed to implementing this plan," Moore said. "We've set forth numerous action steps to ensure that we accomplish our goals."

Moore says he plans to seek approval from the Plan Commission and City Council.
