Louisville man accused of shooting man in chest

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police have arrested a convicted felon after he allegedly shot a man in the chest in a parking lot of a business in west Louisville. 

According to the arrest report, it happened around 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 16 at a business located at 3201 Greenwood Avenue near W. Kentucky Street. Police say 36-year-old Kris Smith was "hanging out in the parking lot" when he got a gun from his vehicle and shot the victim once in the chest. 

Police say Smith then left the business, but returned about a half-hour later on foot. 

Police found the vehicle in the 3000 block of Greenwood Avenue with a gun in plain view. 

Smith was arrested and charged with assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He is due in court on Friday.

There is no word on the victim's condition.
