JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- Police in Jeffersonville say they have been able to close more than a dozen open burglary cases after arresting a suspect earlier this week.

According to a news release from the Jeffersonville Police Department, a resident on Chippewa Drive reported at burglary at her home on Sept. 17. After taking her report and getting a description of the suspect from a witness, an officer found a man matching the description a few blocks away at E. Park Place and Kewanna Drive. The suspect, 24-year-old Jacob Russell, was arrested after a short pursuit.

Police say Russell broke into several other homes in the area on Kewanna Drive, Chippewa Drive, Gilmore Ave, Morris Ave, and Spruce Drive.

After an investigation, police were able to recover more than $20,000 worth of stolen jewelry and electronics that were allegedly taken by Russell during these burglaries. You can view some of that stolen property in the slideshow widget posted above.

Russell is charged with numerous burglary charges as well as resisting law enforcement. He is being held at the Clark County Jail.
