Valley Station hit and run victim looking for answers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Two women were hit by a car in Valley Station earlier this month, and still no one has been arrested.

Joan Hardin and Tracey Stovall were walking down Alanadale Drive just off Dixie Highway at 3 a.m. on Sept. 6. Stovall died as a result and up until Saturday, Hardin had been in the hospital.

“The only thing I remember is we left Circle K,” Hardin said. “We were coming home. We was cutting up like we always do when we walk to the store.”

Hardin has been in the hospital ever since with a number of different injuries, including a broken back and broken hip.

“I've got to go through physical therapy because my hips broke," she said. "I can’t use but one foot, and I don’t know how long that’s going to take. But I'll pull through it,” Hardin said.

Hardin does not remember the wreck itself. Instead she only remembers waking up.

“I took a drink of my drink, and the next thing I remember is waking up on the ground with lights all around me and him [her husband] hollering my name,” Hardin said.

Hardin’s family says from the place she was hit to where she landed was over 60 feet in length.

“I lost one of my closest friends,” Hardin said if Stovall. “She’s been taken from her children, her grandbaby ... Now they're going to have to grow up and not have her around and it's not fair.”

Hardin's family and friends say a $5,000 reward is being offered for anyone with information that leads to the arrest in the hit and run. A private investigator from Florida will also be looking into the case.

“It kills me every day to know that I lost her because of somebody that doesn't give a crap about nothing,” Hardin said. “About nobody apparently. Because they left us there to die.”
