Man charged with assault after Louisville nightclub shootings appears in court

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two months after shooting eight people inside a Louisville nightclub, the man accused of committing the crime faces a judge.

Kevon Taylor, 26, quietly walked into court Monday in orange jail clothing to appear before Judge McKay Chauvin.

Taylor was indicted last week on eight assault charges for a shooting in July that injured eight people.

The shootings happened at Cole's Place, a nightclub on Kentucky Street. One of the victims was a pregnant woman who gave birth to her baby right after the shootings.

All of the victims are okay. Cole's Place has since installed more cameras at the club to keep a better eye on things both inside and outside the club.

In court, a not guilty plea was entered, and Taylor's bond was kept at $25,000 full cash.

Taylor is still being held in jail. He has been there since July, when he was arrested for unrelated charges, including engaging in organized crime.

Police say Taylor and several others had more than $9,000 in counterfeit money.

Taylor is due back in court October 14.
