LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) – Following UK’s first loss of the season, head coach Mark Stoops said Monday at his weekly press conference now was not the time to make any hasty decisions.
He did say however, now was the time for improvement.
“We're in a one-possession game and we're all upset,” said Stoops. "That's a good thing. The fans are upset and want better play, and so do I.”
UK (2-1, 1-1 SEC) looks to rebound this Saturday when it hosts Missouri (3-0, 0-0 SEC). Stoops said a number of his players needed to step up their play going forward including quarterback Patrick Towles, who went 8-24 with two interceptions in the loss to Florida.
“The talent is there,” said Stoops. “I think the frustrating thing for him and for myself and all of us is when there's layups, you can't miss layups. That he has to improve on, and he knows that.”
Missouri leads the all-time series against Kentucky 3-2. The Tigers have won all three meetings against the Wildcats since joining the SEC in 2012. UK’s last win in the series was 1968.
Kickoff is Saturday at 7:30 at Commonwealth Stadium.
