UPDATE: Louisville teen injured in hit and run undergoes more surgery

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville teen hurt in a hit and run has undergone more surgery.

Jaylyn Lowe-Edmonds, 15, is now out of a medically-induced coma at University Hospital, according to his family.

"Jaylyn's eyes are open and he is trying to move his head around. I am happy," his mother said in a text message.

He was hit at 28th and Dumesnil around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Witnesses say a white semi-truck without a trailer hit the teen, but police have not verified that information.

Lowe-Edmonds is a student at PRP High School.

He was walking his younger siblings to school when he was injured.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call police at 574-LMPD (5673).
