Louisville man accused of kidnapping, sexually abusing woman at gunpoint
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've arrested a man after he kidnapped and sexually abused a woman at gunpoint.
The incident took place in the 1800 block of Osage Avenue, near Dr. W. J. Hodge Street.
Police say a woman told them she was walking down the street when a man asked her for a light.
That man was 19-year-old Tywann R. Garrett, according to an arrest report.
Police say Garrett then pulled out a gun and demanded that the woman take off her clothes. According to the arrest report, he started to choke her from behind, took her to the ground and started to fondle her.
The woman struggled with Garrett and he bit her, according to police. She got away and ran to a nearby house, where she was able to call police.
Police say they eventually stopped Garrett near Dixie Highway, Wednesday morning, and he was identified as the suspect.
A pistol was found in the 1800 block of Osage Avenue.
Garrett is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections. He is charged with first degree kidnapping, first degree sexual abuse and second degree assault.
