LMPD: 15-year-old at fault in serious hit and run accident

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a 15-year-old who was hit by a semi truck is to blame for the incident.

The family of Jaylyn Lowe-Edmonds says he was hit by a semi truck without a trailer early on Sept. 17 at 28th and Dumesnil while he was walking his siblings to school. The driver of the semi left the scene.

Jaylyn was hospitalized, and came out of a medically induced coma earlier this week.

LMPD officials say an investigation found Jaylyn was at fault. Police have identified and interviewed the driver of the semi and determined he did not hit Jaylyn intentionally.

LMPD will consult with the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office to decide whether to take further action.
