Driver suffers non-life-threatening injuries after Broadway crash that damages utility pole

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries after he lost control of his car and hit a utility pole Thursday afternoon, according to Louisville Metro Police.

It happened just after 1 p.m. near the corner of 28th Street and Broadway.

According to Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley, the man was driving a 2013 Chrysler northbound on 28th Street when he lost control. He was the only occupant of the vehicle and -- after the crash -- was able to get out of the car on his own. He was taken to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no one else was injured.

As LG&E worked to repair the pole Thursday afternoon, 28th Street traffic was diverted between Howard Street and Broadway. The accident did not appear to cause any power outages, but LG&E estimates the repairs could take 15-20 hours.
