Police: drug addicts recruiting kids to rob pharmacies

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police in Indiana say children are being recruited to rob pharmacies.

Almost a dozen drug stores have been robbed in less than a week, police say. The youngest suspect in the robberies is 11 years old.

In almost every case, police say the child passed a note over the counter demanding narcotics. Indianapolis police say the drugs are probably traded or sold on the streets. They say adults are likely using the kids to stay out of jail.

Walgreens has installed time delay safes in all of its Indiana pharmacies to deter theft.
