Bullitt County Sheriff sets up donation account for safety equipment

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Bullitt County Sheriff says he doesn't have enough money to keep his deputies safe.

Now an account has been set up help raise money to buy bullet proof vests.

The sheriff's department says it has received a huge outpouring of support after the sheriff raised the financial concerns on Facebook yesterday.

Bullitt Fiscal Court gives the Sheriff's Department $600,000 a year, but the Sheriff says that is still not enough money to cover 50 paid employees.

Bullitt County's Chief Financial Officer says the county's budget was cut by 10 percent and revenue has been flat for the past three years.
