Indiana Attorney General announces new coalition to end sexual assault

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana is fighting back against sexual assaults.

The Indiana Attorney General was in southern Indiana this morning to announce the newly formed Indiana Coalition to End Sexual Assault. It comes about a year after a similar group went bankrupt.

The group will make sure money to help sexual assault victims is going to the right places.

"They do programs to make sure the network to support victims of sexual assault will be taken care of," said Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller. "It's a major piece of the supply chain to all of the grantees like the Clark County youth shelter here."

Advocates say their services are desperately needed because Indiana has the nation's second-highest rate of teenage sexual assault.
