Louisville International Film Festival returns this week for the seventh year

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Louisville's International Festival of Film is back this week for its seventh year.

Louisville native Conrad Bachmann is featured in the Sci-Fi movie "Tremors," where he played Dr. Jim.

The movie will be screened Thursday for its 25th anniversary followed by a Q&A with some cast members.

Bachmann, who co-founded the festival, says the three-day event features more than 100 films from 30 to 40 countries.

He hopes the festival continues to grow and makes Louisville a destination city.

"I really want Louisville to be known as Cannes on the Ohio.," he said. "Instead of everyone saying 'Oh, Louisville, Kentucky, isn't that the Kentucky Derby?' I want them to say 'Louisville, Kentucky isn't that Louisville's International Festival of Film?' As I said, we're Cannes on the Ohio."

The film festival runs this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 1-3.

Details, including ticket prices and locations, can be found here.
