LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The name of the motorcyclist killed in an accident on Sunday evening in Hardin County has been released by authorities.

Kentucky State Police say Michael Sinclair, 58, of Washago, Canada was killed in the accident, which happened just east of Elizabethtown on the Bluegrass Parkway.

Police say a man was traveling east on the Bluegrass Parkway near the 8 mile marker in a 2006 Ford Focus. Officials say the man's vehicle left the north side of the road and crossed the median into the west bound lanes of Bluegrass Parkway.

Authorities say Sinclair was traveling west on Bluegrass Parkway on a 2008 BMW motorcycle and was not able to avoid the Ford Focus. Police say Sinclair hit the driver's side door.

Kentucky State Police received a call around 6 p.m. Sunday about the crash.

According to KSP, Sinclair was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hardin Co. Coroner. The driver of the Ford Focus was rescued from the vehicle and flown to U of L Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The westbound lanes of the Bluegrass Parkway near the 8 mile marker were closed for several hours.
