LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Former University of Kentucky basketball superstar John Wall is helping to make life a little easier for homeless children in Washington DC, to the tune of $400,000.

Last Friday, Wall unexpectedly showed up at Bright Beginnings Inc., a Washington DC-based child care center for homeless children, with a $400,000 donation, according to the organization's Facebook page.

"Support from individuals like Mr. Wall, gives Bright Beginnings the encouragement to continue to provide comprehensive services for homeless children in the District of Columbia," said Bright Beginnings Executive Director Dr. Betty Jo Gains, according to the Facebook page. "It is evident that John Wall is sensitive and concerned about the plight of homeless children in DC and he wants these children to succeed."

The donation is expected to be put toward a second child development center that is expected to open in 2017. The organization also plans to create the John Wall Wall of Achievement that will highlight accomplishments made by children at the center.

A classroom will be named in Wall's honor.

Wall currently plays for the Washington Wizards.
