Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore highlights the city's growing business opportunities

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- There's more opportunity for shopping in Jeffersonville as the city takes advantage of the business boom from the Ohio River Bridges Project.

Mayor Mike Moore highlighted the work Tuesday while speaking to Jeffersonville's Rotary Club.

Menards, a well-know home improvement chain, is the newest business helping to drive tax dollars into the city.

A new location north of Veterans Parkway opened Tuesday. It's the company's first store in the Louisville area.

"This has been a huge shot in the arm for us.," Moore said. "This is an international company who was looking worldwide for another location and they chose Jeffersonville."

He says bringing Menards to Jeffersonville is part of a larger business plan for the area.

The plan includes redevelopment of the Old American Legion property along Court Avenue and Maple.

A developer is turning the property into a $30 million apartment complex with first floor retail space.
