Woman fatally shoots herself after opening fire at ConAgra Foods in Princeton, Ky.

PRINCETON, Ky. (WDRB) - A woman is dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after opening fire at the ConAgra Foods plant in Princeton, Kentucky, Wednesday afternoon. 

Police say the shooter, now identified as 37-year-old Nellie Renee Nichols from Dawson Springs, Kentucky, died after she turned the gun on herself. 

According to a news release from the Princeton Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting around 12:15 p.m. at the plant on U.S. 62 in west Princeton. 

Police say Nichols showed up at the factory to confront her mother. The two began arguing, and police say Nichols began firing shots from a semi-automatic pistol. A male bystander was struck in the hand by one of the shots. He was taken to the Caldwell County Medical center with non-life threatening injuries. 

Nichols was taken to Caldwell Medical Center by Caldwell County EMS where she was pronounced dead by the Caldwell County Coroner as the result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. 

The incident remains under investigation by Princeton police.
