LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they're arrested a man accused of stealing property from the vehicles of 19 separate victims.

According to an arrest warrant, the thefts took place between July 29 and Sept. 25 in Jefferson County. Police say 28-year-old Carlos Lobato got into the vehicles, either by force or by taking the victims' keys, and took property including credit cards, in some cases.

Police say they were able to obtain surveillance video from a Planet Fitness location that incriminated Lobato.

According to the arrest warrant, Lobato was able to get some of the victims' car keys from a locker room at an unspecified workout facility.

All of the thefts were of amounts less than $500, according to police, except for one case in which Lobato took a man's credit card and used it to make purchases totaling $1,406.95. Police say they obtained surveillance video showing Lobato using that card.

Lobato is charged with 19 counts of Theft by Unlawful Taking from a Vehicle and one count of Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card. Police say he was confronted and gave a taped statement admitting to each theft.

He is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.
