LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Photographers from the Rochester Institute of Technology were in Louisville on Saturday, taking an extended exposure shot of Churchill Downs.

Local volunteers, along with RIT students and local alumni used flashlights and other illuminating devices to light up the famous Twin Spires for a 30-second exposure.

"This is a community project, and we couldn't have done it without everyone in Louisville who came out tonight and the support of our sponsors," said RIT Professor Michael Peres, who led the event. "We've created a once-in-a-lifetime photograph of the world's most legendary racetrack and one of our most recognizable national historic landmarks."

Since RIT's School of Photographic Arts and Sciences was founded in 1987, they've taken similar photos at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, The Alamo in San Antonio, Texas, and the Royal Palace in Stockholm, Sweden, to name a few.

The photo was taken Saturday at 9:09 p.m.
