LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An inmate from Kentucky who escaped and shot himself after a police chase in Indianapolis remains in intensive care.

Police say 47-year-old John Foster stole an Oldham County vehicle last month while on a work detail in LaGrange. On Monday, Indianapolis Police say Foster shot himself in the neck after a short chase.

He's still in the hospital.

Foster faces more charges now, including resisting arrest and theft -- for stealing a license plate off another vehicle.

If Foster survives, he'll be brought back to Oldham County.
