LEXINGTON, KY. (WDRB) – Stanley “Boom” Williams will not only return to action Thursday for Kentucky, he’ll start against the Auburn Tigers.
Williams missed UK’s last game against Eastern Kentucky due to personal reasons. Williams was listed as the team’s number two running back for that game behind Jojo Kemp. Mark Stoops said Monday at his weekly press conference that all is well between Williams and the team.
“He is back in good standing,” said Stoops, who added he hopes Williams appreciates the game more after sitting out against Eastern Kentucky.
“That is part of us building our program and growing and bringing along some young guys still. Just because we have talked about him for a year and a half doesn’t mean they are grown yet.”
Williams leads the Wildcats with 343 yards rushing this season.
Offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson said the Cats are simply better when Williams plays.
“Obviously we are a better team with him on the field,” said Dawson. “He understands that and we understand that. We want him to be on the field as much as possible.”
Kickoff is set for Thursday at 7 PM ET at Commonwealth Stadium.
