Jeffersonville Mayor issues executive order to increase minimum staffing for ladder trucks

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An executive order was issued Tuesday by Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore to increase the daily minimum staffing for every ladder truck for the city's fire department.

“One of my top priorities as mayor is to ensure our citizens are safe,” Mayor Moore said in a news release. “That’s why I’m taking this step today.”

Mayor Moore is ordering daily minimum staffing for each ladder truck bought after Jan. 1, 2014 be increased from three to four starting Nov. 1.

Officials say money for the additional staffing is already part of the department's budget.

“This is a significant decision by the Mayor. I commend him for his leadership on this important issue for our department,” said Fire Chief Eric Hedrick in a release.
