Police arrest Louisville man after tracking stolen iPhone

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man accused of stealing an iPhone and cash was arrested after the victim helped police track the phone to the suspect's location. 

According to an arrest report, it happened around 2:20 a.m. on Oct. 13 at the Province Apartments in the 600 block of Ruggles Place near S. 7th Street. That's when the victim called police to report being robbed. Police say the suspect -- 20-year-old Brian Thompson -- took the iPhone and $30 in cash. 

The iPhone was tracked to 17th and Garland, where police found Thompson, who was in possession of the stolen phone. Police say Thompson was also carrying $445 in cash. Police say Thompson was read his rights before admitting he took the victim's phone and money. According to police, Thompson threatened to shoot the victim. 

Thompson was arrested and charged with robbery and receiving stolen property. He remains jailed at Louisville Metro Corrections.
