Florida company sues Louisville Slugger maker over 'Honus Wagner' bats

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Slugger maker Hillerich & Bradsby is being sued for illegal use of an iconic baseball player's name.

According to the federal lawsuit Honus Wagner Company -- based in Broward County, Florida -- is suing the Louisville business for using Wagner's name on one of its commemorative bats.

The lawsuit accuses Hillerich and Bradsby of trademark infringement and seeks financial compensation.

Honus Wager was known as the "Flying Dutchman" and played for the Louisville Colonels in the late 1890s before his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
