Community leaders and parents gather to discuss tactics to reduce violence in Louisville

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Community leaders and parents are saying enough is enough with all the recent violence in Louisville.

The Urban League held the community call to action Saturday morning at its office on West Broadway.

Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles were all invited.

They were asked to come up with action steps ... how they could reduce violence in their communities and what they could do differently to fix the problem.

One man who says he and his wife raised eight children in the west end says it all starts with the parents.

"I have five boys, three girls ... and not one of those boys have had any near mishaps with the law," Feotis Gilbert. "And it's ... because me and my wife were one in agreement in terms of what we're going to allow our children to do and not do."

Cameras were not allowed inside Saturday's meeting.
