Equestrian competition brings participants from around the world to Goshen

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Competitors from all over the country were in Kentucky this weekend for the Single Horse Driving National Championships.

The equestrian competition was held at Hermitage Farm in Goshen.

The event is similar to a triathlon. The horse and driver first compete in dressage, where the horse is judged on it's movements.

Next is a cross-country marathon portion, followed by a cone precision test.

Chester Weber, a driver, described what makes a great horse-team duo

"There has to be a lot of trust, willingness," he said. "They in the cross country have to be bold and brave. And here they have to come back and be exacting and very disciplined."

The world championships will be held next summer in Europe.
