LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Gunfire canceled the funeral for a man who was shot and killed last week.

Police say two men were outside fighting over a gun Saturday when it went off.

"I feel that we got attacked and disrespected in a major way," said the victim's father, Andrea Davis.

It happened outside the G.C. Williams Funeral Home at 19th and Broadway as people paid their respects to Deshawndre Davis.

What was supposed to be a peaceful goodbye suddenly turned into panic.

"I see my grandmother laying on the ground getting trampled, my mother, my cousins, my son ... It was crazy. My niece got shot in the hand," Davis said.

Police say the teenager's injury wasn't reported, but one of the men struggling over the gun went to the hospital with a broken finger.

No one has been arrested.

Andrea Davis, who was at an anti-violence gathering Sunday, says he doesn't know the people involved even though police say they were attending the funeral.

His 22-year-old son was shot and killed in Shively on Oct. 11. He leaves behind two kids.

His family says they still don't understand why he was murdered.

"My son was not a drug dealer, gang member, none of that," Davis said. "The reason why they wore blue is because he was a Kentucky fan."

With the funeral canceled, family and friends were forced to go straight to the cemetery.

"It was like everything was rushed. everything was pushed," Davis said. "It was really devastating and frustrating on the family, because we didn't get to send my son the way he should have been, and we're still grieving. It's something we have to deal with. It wasn't right."

Shively Police are investigating Davis' homicide. There have been no arrests.
