Underground fire causes power outage in part of Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- Part of Clarksville was without power on Monday morning.

Clarksville Police dispatch confirms there was an underground fire at a substation just after 5 a.m.  The fire was reported near Bass Pro Shops. Fire trucks have cleared the substation fire.

Duke Energy's outage website shows customers impacted are in an area along Lewis & Clark Parkway from Blackiston Mill to I-65.

Duke Energy spokeswoman Angeline Proteogere confirms the fire knocked out power to just over 900 customers. Crews re-routed power, so most customers had power restored by 7:30 a.m.

Proteogere estimates six customers will remain without power, while repairs are completed.
