LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police have arrested a man officials say robbed a Dollar General store while armed with a knife.

Rico Rainey, 39, was arrested early Saturday morning in the 1700 block of West Broadway, near South 17th Street, according to the official police report.

Police say that Rainey allegedly robbed the Dollar General store located at 7850 Dixie Highway on Oct. 7. Officials say at the time of the incident, Rainey was armed with a knife.

Authorities say Rainey entered the store and approached an employee at the counter. According to police, Rainey allegedly tried to grab the register till from the employee.

Police say Rainey and the employee struggled and that Rainey threatened to hurt the employee.

Investigators say the employee received a small cut to her arm from the knife.

Authorities say Rainey took the money from the till and fled.

Rainey is charged with robbery.

He is being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $20,000 bond.
