UPDATE: Crystal Rogers' family took a break from their search efforts Monday. Family contacted WDRB late Monday night to clarify that they would continue consistently searching for her and that Monday was simply a respite from the exhaustive search for her. Family had been scouring the woods in Nelson County every day for the last three months. However, the team of specialized K-9 searchers returned to Florida.

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WDRB) -- With the new information from police, Crystal Rogers' family took a break from their searches today.

Rogers was last seen on July 3 at her boyfriend's farm in Nelson County. Her vehicle was found a couple days later on the Bluegrass parkway with her cell phone, purse and a diaper bag inside.

Since then, the family has been consumed with finding her, but now, based on recently released evidence and comments from investigators, they believe she may be dead.

"My daughter was pretty strong-willed, she held her own," said Crystal's mother, Sherry Ballard. "I would have never dreamed this. Ever."

On Monday, Oct. 19, for the first time in months, Crystal's family did not spend their afternoon digging through the trenches of Nelson County looking for her body.

Just days earlier on Oct. 16, the family received news of a grim reality: investigators now believe she is dead. It is news that her family is still trying to deal with.

Investigators now say Crystal's boyfriend, Brooks Houck, is the only suspect in her disappearance.

"I mean I don't know what to tell her kids about whether she's coming back because I can't prove to them that's she's not," Sherry said. "I don't want to take away that little window of hope."

Crystal's mother says volunteers will continue their efforts, but on Monday the team of specialized K-9 searchers returned to Florida. And Crystal's father.. who has endlessly scoured the woods in Nelson County, went back to work.

With authorities releasing new interrogation video of Nick Houck (the brother of Brooks Houck), and authorities naming Brooks Houck as the only suspect in the case, her family hopes charges could be close.

On Oct. 16, Nick Houck, was fired from the Bardstown police department. Police said he failed a polygraph test and interfered with the Rogers investigation. According to Commonwealth Attorney Terry Geoghegan Brooks Houck can face felon y charges even if Rogers' body is not found.

But authorities admit that, without a body, it's a much harder case to prove..And for Crystal's family, it will be much harder to accept.

"We will not give up no this," said Ballard.

So far no arrests have been made.
