GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WDRB) -

The first Lexus models ever built in the United States will be made in Kentucky and the first one rolled off the assembly line in Georgetown Monday.

The Lexus ES 350 is getting rock star treatment as people from across the world gathered to celebrate history in the making.

"It'ss the first U.S. produced Lexus and our quality is gonna be the same or better than what you currently see at the dealerships. Our customers have come to expect that from Lexus and It'ss our promise -- our commitment -- we're going to deliver that day in and day out for them," assembly shop manager Michael Bridge said.

Since 1988, Lexus vehicles have primarily been made in Japan. However, in an effort to expand production for the ES 350, Toyota officials believe the Kentucky plant is perfect for the job.

"Almost 30 years of producing a number one selling sedan like the Camry, so the team members' commitment to quality everyday with the Camry, the Avalon and the Venza that we produce now has really built a reputation that [we] can produce quality consistently," Bridge said. "In October 2013 we took a trip to Japan and -- side-by-side -- built a car with the crew that makes it. So we know what makes it special, and we're putting that into every one of these cars."

In the early 1980s, the state granted Toyota unprecedented tax incentives to win the company over and build the plant at Georgetown.

"The investment to begin with might have been small, the incentive might have been good -- but yet small -- but still, look at what It'ss return on investment has been for the last 25 years," Georgetown/Scott County Chamber of Commerce director Jack Conner said.

Toyota invested $360 million in the new assembly line and Hired a total of 750 people.

"So the 750 will translate into more jobs for more companies who will expand as well as those we hope that may even look at locating in our community," Conner said.

A community that is coming together to celebrate Toyota's dedication to the state.

"It'ss just one more chapter in the tremendous amount of investment that Toyota has put into the community and the state and the region," Bridge said. "It' just a vote of confidence really in the area."

The Kentucky made Lexus model will be on the market next month.
