When Kentuckians elect a new Governor, there are others who will be moving to the Governor's mansion along with Matt Bevin or Jack Conway -- their families. But are they as ready for public scrutiny as the politicians themselves?

Behind every campaign stop, policy speech or fundraising barbecue, meet the wives waiting in the wings -- Elizabeth Conway and Glenna Bevin.

One of them is likely to become Kentucky's next first lady. It's a title that is just as public and political these days as many elected positions.

They are the women who know the candidates for governor the best, so we asked each why should their husband get your vote.

"I think Jack will make a great governor because he brings a unique balance of fiscal responsibility and experience," Elizabeth Conway said.

"My husband's not a politician, he's not a insider. He's a servant. He has a servant's heart," said Glenda Bevin.

We also asked what happens if they lose.

"If they don't win, I get my life back," Glenda Bevin said. "I get my husband back. I'm good."

"Before we made the decision to run for governor, we had to decide if we'd be OK losing," said Elizabeth Conway. "Don't run if you're not going to be OK and we were perfectly fine with that. You give people a choice and hope they make the right one and then move forward in life."

Tonight on WDRB News at 6 and 10 how the candidates wives say they deal with the onslaught of negative campaign ads and what are the biggest misconceptions about their husbands.
