LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- U of L men's basketball coach Rick Pitino has no plans to step down over sexual allegations stemming from a new book, according to U of L athletics director Tom Jurich.

U of L sports information director Kenny Klein released a brief written statement Monday morning, on behalf of Jurich.

"Coach Pitino has no plans to step down, he has a long-term contract here and he absolutely did not know anything about the allegations," Klein said in the written statement.

The news comes after five former University of Louisville players and recruits backed up some of the claims of sexual encounters Katina Powell made in her tell-all book "Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen," according to ESPN.

The former players and recruits tell Outside the Lines that they attended parties with strippers at Minardi Hall, the dorm for basketball players. They told ESPN that the team's former graduate assistant coach Andre McGee paid for the strippers.

One of the former players even says he had sex with a dancer after McGee paid her.

The bombshell comes as self-proclaimed madam Katina Powell broke her silence for the first time, granting an on-camera interview with ESPN. She claims McGee paid her more than $10,000 over four years to provide escorts for recruits and players.

When asked by WDRB to respond to the latest developments, a University of Louisville spokesperson released a written statement saying, "To preserve the integrity of the review process, the university will withhold comment on any details until the review is concluded."
