BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WDRB) - A missing Bardstown woman's family is responding to what they call lies, which her boyfriend told a detective during an interview.

Crystal Rogers, a mother of five, disappeared in early July. The Nelson County Sheriff's Office says investigators now believe she is dead.

Officials just released one of their interviews with Rogers' longtime boyfriend Brooks Houck, who has been named as the only suspect.

On the morning of Saturday, July 4, Houck told a detective he awoke to find his young son in bed -- but not Rogers.

When the detective asks why Houck wasn't worried, he says a lot of times Rogers goes out with her sister and other friends.

"They do these fantasy parties. All these girls get together, they talk about and do whatever and it's not uncommon for them, when they go out and party, they stay out the better part of the night," Houck explained a few days after Rogers went missing.

"I was really hung up on that," said Rogers' younger sister, Brooke Ballard.

Ballard says she dragged Crystal to one so-called fantasy party months ago, a get-together where women could buy intimate gifts.

"He made her sound awful and that wasn't the case," Ballard told WDRB News.

Ballard says her sister went out once in a 'blue moon' and when she did, she usually wanted to come home early. She points out Rogers was busy with five kids and work.

"It hurts because she's not here to defend herself but I will clearly defend her name," Ballard explained.

In the police interview, Houck claims he, Rogers and their son spent the evening together before she went missing at his family's farm.

A detective says video shows their car leaving just before midnight.

Houck says they went straight home.

"I went to bed immediately," he told the detective.

Houck says Rogers stayed up, playing on her phone, and that she was gone the next morning.

"I just want to know why he's really not worried," Ballard said. "What's the truth behind it?"

Rogers' family reported her missing later that weekend. Her car was found abandoned on the Bluegrass Parkway with her phone and purse still inside.

Houck has not been arrested and was only recently named a suspect. The police interviews were released after Houck's brother, Nick, was fired from the Bardstown Police Department.

Officials claim he interfered with the Rogers' investigation but he is not facing any criminal charges.
