NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB)  -- No injuries have been reported after a fire destroyed a home in New Albany early Friday.

The fire started around 5:45 a.m. at the home on Danny Drive off Kamer Miller Road. WDRB News Director Barry Fulmer went to the scene and says the house has partially collapsed and appears to be a total loss.

Fulmer says a family inside the home escaped unharmed.

"This is a pretty bad fire," Fulmer said. "The house is completely destroyed. Just a few minutes ago, half of the house collapsed."

Fulmer says neighbors told him flames were seen coming from the dryer vent, but officials have not confirmed that's where the fire started. Fulmer says "the fire was so intense the entire front yard -- the grass -- was even burned."

One of the homeowners told WDRB crews at the scene that she and her husband heard the smoke alarm and got out.

"I turned around and everything just filled with smoke," said Carola Densford. And I couldn't breathe ... then I heard my husband screaming from the outside, he yelled my name again and again. And I'm like, 'I'm here!' and he's like 'get out!' So I did."

Densford says she believes the fire started near the laundry room.
