LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Former University of Louisville Director of Basketball Operations Andre McGee has resigned from his current position at University of Missouri-Kansas City, according to the school.

News of the resignation came Friday afternoon.

"The university deserves a full-time assistant coach, and I am not able to provide that to the basketball team while the false allegations against me are being investigated," McGee wrote in a letter to UMKC Director of Athletics Carla Wilson.

McGee gained notoriety when his name surfaced in the book "Breaking Cardinal Rules," written by Katina Powell, who claimed that she and her daughters performed sexual favors for University of Louisville men's basketball recruits and players.

Powell claimed that McGee paid her thousands of dollars to arrange for escorts for the recruits and players.
