LOUISVILLE, Ky, (WDRB) -- Three people are dead after two separate shootings in Louisville Saturday morning.
A Louisville Metro Police spokesperson says a unit first responded around 12:30 a.m. to the 800 block of Evelyn Avenue to find two people had been shot.
Demond Ramsey, 23, died at the scene of gunshot wounds, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
"I was sleeping, and my grandma woke me up and told me Demond got shot," said Danaija Beckham, a cousin of Ramsey.
"We were just waiting around to see if it was true," she said. "That's when my granny was like 'It's true,' and my heart just stopped because I couldn't believe it. I loved him to death, and I feel like he didn't deserve this."
Police say J. Juan Kimbley, 22, was also shot at the same location. He was taken to University Hospital but died just before 3:30 a.m.
"He don't do no wrong," Ramsey's aunt said. "He gave his life to God. He takes care of his child."
But the Evelyn Avenue shooting wasn't the only one that police are investigating.
Police are also looking into another homicide, this one occurring on Lynnview Lane. Police responded to that scene around 9 a.m. to find Kevin Deramus, 45, outside of his house had been shot dead.
"I feel that young people have lost respect," said Demond Tunsil with the Voice of Louisville organization. "Nobody has a conscience. They're hurting people's families."
Detectives do not believe that there is a connection between the two shootings. and no suspects have been arrested.
